The Town Board is pleased to announce that their are four employment opportunities available to local residents due to retirement and a reallocation of a position.
Job Descriptions: Deputy Town Clerk, Justice Court Clerk, Assessor, Highway Laborer
Irene Wing, Deputy Town Clerk and Jim Tyger, Assessor, have both advised the Supervisor that they will be retiring at the end of 2016. Mrs. Wing has been the Deputy Town Clerk for over 29 years and has dedicated herself to ensuring that the Town residents are served with professionalism and respect. During her tenure, she has enjoyed meeting new residents and welcoming them to the community. Mrs. Wing has been instrumental in ensuring that the Town has moved forward with technology.
The future Deputy Clerk must be willing to serve the public on a variety of matters, have strong interpersonal skills, be competent on Microsoft Office and able quickly adapt to Municipal Software programs. As Deputy Clerk, the candidate will be required to serve as Deputy Tax Collector and therefore must have strong math skills. The right person will work Monday – Friday from 9 am – 3 pm and be able to attend Town Board meetings on the second Thursday of the month. Town of Washington residency is required.
Mr. Tyger has been the Assessor for the Town for 10 years. His analytical mind and knowledge of the community has served our residents well. The Assessor is an appointed position and applicants must have strong computer skills, especially the ability to use Excel and all of its functions. An appraiser’s background and familiarity with the Town’s diverse property will be extremely helpful. This position is a part time position that requires the Assessor to serve twenty hours per week in the office.
Dana Sukow’s term as Justice Court Clerk is expiring and due to time constraints she has asked not to be reappointed. Ms. Sukow has served Justice for eleven years. The Justice Court Clerk is a part time position and requires the candidate to be available one night a week when court is in session. Ideally, the right candidate will be proficient in all aspects of office administration, able to deal with many different people with respect and compassion, strong computer and phone skills and be willing to change priorities very quickly. This position will begin on or about November 1st.
The Town Highway Department is considering the addition of a laborer’s position to replace a gentleman that retired earlier in the year. The right candidate will be a hard working individual, skilled with using a variety of tools, be a team player and ready to move up through the ranks of the department. Having the ability to work in any type of weather and at every hour is a necessity. A CDL license is preferred.
