All Town offices may be closed or operating on reduced hours in the event of poor weather.

Tax Collection – 2013 Tax bills will be sent on or about Friday, January 18,  to all property owners that pay their taxes directly to the Tax Collector, as well as to mortgage companies that are authorized to receive tax bills on behalf of their escrow clients.  Current tax bill information is available at www.egov.basny.com/washington/ .  Payment information is updated every night and you can check the status of your payments.

Tax payments are due without penalty by February 28th.  There is a 2% penalty for the month of March, 3 % for the month of April and 4%  plus $2.00 for the month of May.  It is the responsibility of all property owners to know that there is a tax payment due whether or not they receive a tax bill.  Please ensure that the Town Clerk has the correct mailing address for you.  You may contact Mary Alex with changes or questions at townclerk@washingtonny.org or 845-677-3419.

Anyone wishing to renew or apply for assessment exemptions, the proper paperwork must be filed by March 1st.  The Assessor’s office is open daily from 9 am – 12 noon or Judy may be reached at 677-3949.

All town offices will be closed on Monday, January 21st in honor of Martin Luther King Day and on Monday, February 18th in celebration of President’s Day.

Appoint the Bank of Millbrook as Official Depository of Town funds.

Authorize the Supervisor to invest town funds in time or authorized investments as approved by the Town Board.

Official rate of mileage is 44 cents per mile for reimbursement to employees and elected officials.

Approve the procurement of a blanket undertaking from a duly authorized corporate surety covering the officers, clerks and employees of the town.  Any such blanket undertaking entered into must indemnify against losses caused by the failure of the officers or employees to faithfully perform their duties or by their fraudulent or dishonest acts.

Supervisor is authorized to allow an independent auditor, D’Achille and Associates, for the audit of financial undertakings of the fiscal year 2012 and for the preparation of the 2012 Annual Financial Disclosure that the Town must file with the NYS Comptroller’s Office by March 31, 2013.

Any Elected Official, Appointed Official or Employee of the Town of Washington is required to provide written and verbal notification of any:

- financial interest held by them or their spouses or dependent children, in cases where these businesses or activities are involved in doing business by contract with the town.

- any position in any business association or other organization held by them, their spouse or dependent children, either for-profit or not-for profit, in any case where these associations are involved in doing business or pursuing activities or investments which in any manner will entail local legislative or administrative approvals by any board or public officer of the town.
