GENERAL INFORMATION

The Highway Department is open from 7:30am - 3:30pm Monday through Friday.

The Town of Washington Highway Department is responsible for the maintenance and improvements of the Town’s public road infrastructure.  The infrastructure includes 64 miles of roads.  The town has 30 miles of dirt roads and 34 miles of blacktop roads.  The maintenance responsibility ensures the safe passage on our road system and includes road patching, mowing and snow and ice control and removal. 

The Highway Department annually undertakes road maintenance and improvement projects including road reconstruction, resurfacing and drainage improvements.  The Highway Department maintains a fleet of 21 vehicles including snow plows, graders, tractors, loaders and dump trucks.

The Town of Washington Transfer Station is operated and maintained by the Highway Department.  For information on Transfer Station Permits please contact the Town Clerk.
