As we ring in the New Year, we would like to wish everyone a healthy and joyful year!

There have been some changes in administration and personnel and we welcome them to the Town.  Town Supervisor Gary Ciferri has jumped right in, and is becoming acclimated with the current issues facing the town, meeting our residents and working with the Town staff to provide a seamless transition to our community.  The direct phone number for Supervisor Ciferri is 677-6498 and his email address is supervisor@washingtonny.org .

Councilman Al De Bonis has been named to as liaison to the Planning Board, Zoning Board and Emergency Preparedness Committee.  He is reviewing a variety of information and quickly learning about the different departments.

With the combination of the Town and Village Justice System, the hours to the Town Court have been extended to provide additional services to the community.  Justice Clerk Dana Sukow is available Monday – Friday from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.  The Town Hall closes from 12:30 – 1:30 pm.  The phone number for the Justice Court is 677-6366.

Laura Hurley has been named the full time Assistant and Bookkeeper to the Supervisor and will be responsible for Transfer Station billing.  Mrs. Hurley is available on a daily basis in the Supervisor’s office.

Judy Malstrom has been named Assessor’s Aide.  Ms. Malstrom will be working with residents on exemption paperwork and other assessment business from 9:00 am – 12 noon, Monday – Friday.  The phone number to the Assessor’s office is 677-3949.

Nancy Patrick has joined the Building and Zoning Department and will be available Monday – Friday from 9:00 am – 12 noon.  The office phone for the Building Inspector and Zoning Administrator is 677-8321.

TAX COLLECTION – The Town Clerk has received the Tax Bills for 2012 and the office is working on processing them for delivery to residents.  If you have had a change of address or a change in your mortgage status, please call Mary Alex or irene Wing at 677-3419.  Tax Bills will be mailed on or about January 17th.  It is the responsibility of the property owner to be aware that tax payments are due without penalty on February 29th.  If you have not received your tax bill by January 27th call to request a duplicate bill.  Tax bills may be viewed online on the town website at www.washingtonny.org visit the tax collector page and view tax bills online.  There is a 4 year history available.

NO PARKING – We are fortunate that we have had very little snow to speak of! The Town has a No Parking on Town Roads policy, which is in effect until April 1st.  If we do have winter storms, please do not push the snow from your driveway into the road. 

TOWN OFFICES CLOSED – The Town Hall and Highway Department will be closed on Monday, January 16th, in honor of Martin Luther King.
